Success is 90% Mindset – Here’s the Science Behind It

Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you work, success always seems just out of reach? Like there’s an invisible force holding you back from achieving your goals?

I get it. I’ve been there.

For years, I thought success was all about talent, hard work, and maybe a little bit of luck. But then I discovered the game-changer: Success is 90% mindset. And science backs this up.

The Hidden Power of Your Mind

Your subconscious mind makes up about 90% of your brain activity. It controls your emotions, habits, beliefs, and long-term memory. The kicker? Most of us go through life on autopilot, allowing old, limiting beliefs to dictate our reality.

Think about it—how many times have you caught yourself saying:

❌ “I’m not smart enough.” ❌ “I’ll never be successful.” ❌ “I don’t deserve this.”

The truth is, your brain listens to everything you tell it. It doesn’t argue. It doesn’t challenge you. It just accepts it as truth and then filters reality to reinforce that belief.

The Reticular Activating System (RAS): Your Brain’s Gatekeeper

This is where neuroscience gets fascinating. Your brain has a built-in filter called the Reticular Activating System (RAS)—it determines what you focus on. If you constantly tell yourself you’re not good enough, your RAS will look for proof to support that belief.

Ever notice how when you decide to buy a certain car, you suddenly start seeing it everywhere? That’s your RAS in action. Now imagine if you trained it to find opportunities, success, and growth instead of doubt and failure.

Here’s the good news: You can reprogram your RAS to work for you, not against you.

How to Rewire Your Mind for Success

1. Reframe Your Self-Talk

Your words shape your reality. So let’s flip the script:

Instead of: “I can’t do this.”
Say: “I am capable, and I figure things out.”

Instead of: “I’m not good at this.”
Say: “I am learning and improving every day.”

Catch yourself in negative self-talk? Stop. Reframe. Repeat.

2. Visualize The Outcome Daily

Your brain doesn’t know the difference between a real event and an imagined one. That’s why top athletes use visualization to win.

Take five minutes each day to close your eyes and vividly imagine your success. Feel it. See it. Believe it. This trains your brain to accept it as possible—and then it starts working to make it real.

3. Take Aligned Actions

Your beliefs shape your actions. If deep down, you don’t believe success is possible for you, your actions will reflect that.

Start acting as if your success is already happening. Ask yourself:

👉 How would a successful version of me show up today?
👉 What decisions would they make?
👉 What habits would they have?

And then start living as if that’s already your reality.

The Truth? Success Starts in Your Mind

It’s not about being the smartest person in the room. It’s not about luck. It’s about rewiring your mindset to believe that success is possible for you—and taking the actions to back it up.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, know this: You have the power to change the narrative. You’re not a victim of your circumstances. You’re in control. And it all starts with shifting your mindset.
